Business Wins in July
Wow! Nearly the end of July and “School’s Out for Summer!”
In this month we have achieved our first milestone at the Financial Conduct Authority in our Digital Maturity Partner engagement that we talked about securing last month. This is a great example of on time, high quality delivery by our team and making an impact almost immediately after beginning the work.
Our reputation grows and grows! Similarly, last month I talked about starting our first Discovery work packages at the UK Health Security Agency – these are now well under way and whilst we are discovering challenges in the way the client needs to operate, we are making good headway.
Using the experience of winning and delivering this work, we have already started to bid for other Design and Discovery work at other organisations both in government and in the private sector so expect us to get involved in more shaping work and the roles and skills that go with that.
We’ve now submitted our re-bid to the UKHSA as our contract is coming to an end in September and the client has gone out to competitive tender for their client-side partner going forwards.
At NHS England, our Screening team came to do a Show and Tell on the work we are doing across the transformation programme team, the cervical screening system team, and the live service engagement at the Town Hall. It’s clear that there, as well as everywhere else, we are delivering excellence every day in a most challenging environment that will lead to an outcome of huge impact for society.
We still awaiting answers on several bids that have gone into organisations such as the FCA, NHS, Department of Health, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Crown Commercial Services.
In other sectors, we are advancing nicely in the conversations with Sky, BNP Paribas, Northern PowerGrid, Welsh Water and most recently Asda.
Most of these are now at formal proposal stage, and we’re working with our contacts at these potential clients to get to the proposal that they need.
These are quite broad, covering Service Design, Enterprise Architecture, Delivery and Product Management so expect some opportunities for exciting work in exciting new clients!
We’ve had many new starters this month as you’ll have hopefully seen at the Town Hall. Every one of those new starters is important to the growth of our business.
I’d like to draw your attention specifically to Dave Sugden joining us this month. Dave has joined to build out our engineering practice. Engineering, to us, means our services to clients around concepts such as pipeline automation, SRE, Observability amongst others.
It’s absolutely essential to our Fast Flow thinking to have these concepts covered and we often find ourselves deploying people into engineering roles with our clients, so this formalises that now as a practice and service offering from Axiologik.
We've also been hard at work in the background to build our employer brand. Read all about our newest accredition here
Introducing

Introducing Dave Sugden
Head of Engineering
Following my graduation at University of Leeds in Information Systems, I spent over 25 years at Equifax working in the consumer, commercial, and insurance sectors at a number of global technology centres in the UK, Ireland, and the USA, and held technology leadership roles that spanned B2B and B2C channels and internal developer platforms.
Throughout my career I have focused on the rapid, secure, and safe release of value to users and the continual improvement of team models, practices, and processes to remove bottlenecks and optimise digital delivery for fast flow.
Outside of work, my passion for technology and an eclectic taste in music allowed me to mash personal interests together to run the Leeds Music Scene website and Leeds Gig Guide apps for over 20 years, alongside a couple of years editing a weekly music pullout at the Yorkshire Evening News. But don’t ask me to play any instruments - or sing at karaoke - because I can’t do either - although that didn’t stop me being in several bands!
Other interests include football and beyond playing, I spent many years coaching girls teams in Ireland - our club included some incredibly talented players who went on to play in the Irish national league and the international side - and I’m a Leeds United member and Scarborough shareholder, so every winter can be a rollercoaster of emotions. I grew up on the east coast before moving to Leeds and love getting back to the seaside as much as I can.
Joining Axiologik as Head of Engineering is a positive and exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to driving improvements and delivering engineering excellence across the country. We’ll be building a team of expertise around SRE, Platform Engineering, DevOps evangelists, and software development.

Events

Events
We have been super busy this month, building the brand and developing really strong relationships within the Leeds tech community to empower and drive change!
In July we were one of the lucky sponsors for Yorkshire Sustainability Week, which saw our very own Head of Architecture, Adam Cockburn, take part in a fantastic panel discussion, discussing technology and sustainability issues and solutions.
We also attended Women in Tech YSW and joined Leeds Community Foundation on their annual trip visiting communities within Leeds and seeing the impact of our fundraising events!
On top of that, the icing on the cake was our amazing Marketing team hosting another epic Digital Dinners and the annual Bi-Peers event, which has found a long-term home at our Axiologik event space.
To find out how to become more involved, please reach out to our Marketing duo via the links at the bottom of the newsletter.
