Leadership Thoughts
Business Wins in June
It’s been a busy month, with some huge business development wins and advancements.
At the FCA we have closed the Digital Maturity Partner deal, this a relatively large deal for us, but most significantly capitalises our reputation for transforming clients’ digital delivery operating models – we’re building a good reputation for this kind of work and this win happened because we could reference previous successes, talk knowledgably in our proposal about our methods and experience and our people.
In addition to this we’ve submitted a bid to be included in a digital capabilities and skills framework for the FCA which, if we’re successful in securing a place on, will see us able to bid for more work packages there in a much smaller pool of framework suppliers over the next few years.
Elsewhere in government, our Home Office growth is solid with 8 new roles secured there, and two more framework submissions made for the NHS Shared Business Services. These latter frameworks are also multi-year frameworks with anticipated spend in the 100s of millions.
At the UK Health Security Agency, we’ve won our first pureplay Discovery work package.
Whilst we’ve led product and service teams at clients where we’ve had to do discoveries, this is a bounded, referenceable piece of work that gets our Discovery-as-a-Service offering off the ground. We expect to bid for lots more of these, and they mean that we are shifting our engagement model to the left and getting closer to our clients’ problem framing. It’s a great lead-in to further delivery and engineering work.
In other sectors, we’ve secured another piece of operating model work at Thomson Reuters which sees us extending the existing team there, with some Thomson Reuters old hands re-joining us!
At Welsh Water we completed our digital capabilities assessment work package which has been very well received and we’re now in continued talks with them about the roadmap we’ve put forward and how we can help in its execution.
Strengthening our business development capabilities has been the priority of the last couple of months, and with a strong marketing team and sector leads in place we are now having much more conversations at the upper funnel and qualified leads are now coming through.
Conversations are being had with organisations like BNP Paribas, Sky and other divisions in NHS Digital.
In addition to this, we welcome Rob Smith as our new Commercial Director. Rob started on 13th June, and he will lead all growth activities for Axiologik.
Introducing

Introducing Rob Smith
Commercial Director
"If there is such a thing as a career path, mine is paved with crazy paving."
Having graduated in mathematics, I started my career in technical roles at Kodak (remember them?), and was head of engineering for Sila (a Reuters subsidiary) in my early thirties, before co-founding the pioneering Agile consultancy, IndigoBlue, in 2002.
Looking back at some of the very challenging conversations I had back then, it’s great to now be vindicated through ubiquitous, global adoption of agile processes in technology.
Having sold IndigoBlue to Mastek in 2015, I have since held a number of commercial roles and am delighted to have now joined Axiologik as Commercial Director; with a clear focus on helping to take the organisation through its next phase of growth.
Coming here is a little like returning home, both literally and metaphorically. I am a Yorkshireman (despite living in London for the last 30 years) and have previously worked with many of the team here.
Most importantly I have a career-long passion for improving client-side delivery, helping organisation to become the best versions of themselves.
