First Month Reflection – Adam Windass

Written by Adam Windass | May 31, 2023 11:28:41 AM

I’ve been a Big-Corporates Loyalist all my working life – and that’s been quite a while. I joined BT just post-privatisation in the mid-eighties, spent 13 happy years there – infact, they sponsored me to get a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Management through City University, London….Nice.

I then spent 18 great years with IBM, in roles from Complex Bid Management, Account Management, Business Management, Sales and Delivery. I went to parts of the world I most likely would never have seen otherwise. Then, between 2018 and 2023, I worked at Experian, initially in the Banking line of business and latterly as the Head of Client Delivery for Telecoms, Utilities and Public Sector clients in the Decisioning Software business.

In May 2023, I took what I considered to be a big step and joined Axiologik….

The whole process from initial speculative email, through to arriving at 9am on my first day was pretty much flawless. Interviews, offer letter and contract were all done within less than 2 weeks. We have a great Talent Acquisition team here, all dedicated to ensuring an excellent experience for candidates, and new joiners.

I didn’t sleep much the night before my first day. Was I anxious? Probably. Did I have imposter syndrome (What could I possibly offer a “smaller” consulting company, with ambitious growth plans?) – you bet I did.

The Induction process has been and continues to be fantastic. The team I’m working with could not have been more welcoming and I’m not exaggerating at all when I say that after the first couple of days I absolutely felt like I was part of something very special. Laptop ready to go at 9am on day 1 – all peripheral equipment, neatly stacked on a desk with my name on them. I haven’t experienced this level of efficiency before and, if I’m honest it took me by surprise.

I’m under no illusion that this period of transition will be challenging – my first month has been a bit of a whirlwind, meeting new colleagues (and remember their names!), trying to understand the structure of the business as well as collaborate with colleagues on a new engagement I’m going to take the lead on from a Delivery perspective. Challenging and exciting in one Axiologik branded package!

Oh, and the coffee is good too!

I’m planning a reflective article after my first 3 months at Axiologik…..let’s see how things go in the next 10-12 weeks. Watch this space…..
